Who says LEGO® bricks are only for children? Who says team building activities have to be embarrassing or boring?
We recently helped 120 participants at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne to achieve their team building goals with our Bricks 4 Biz® workshop for adults.
Our motto: We build. We bond. We grow – using LEGO® bricks.
The objective: To help the participants from various cultures to bond with one another and work together more efficiently.
The activities: Using a range of activities, we asked the team to build LEGO® models working together in groups. Sounds simple, right?We didn’t make it easy, though…
For example, in one exercise, we gave each team member a hidden agenda such as – yellow bricks can’t touch red bricks, but they were not allowed to tell the other members what their agendas were. They had to find different ways to communicate this while still aiming to work together towards the end model. In another activity the ‘builder’ had to follow instructions from a ‘translator’ who got his or her instructions from a ‘looker’ who was the only one who actually got to see our pre-built model
The result: They discussed their experiences, shared their feelings and learned more about themselves and their team members, boosting creativity, leadership and communication skills.
